A Princeton PhD student of William Feller, he was Professor of Mathematics at TCD from 1965-1989.
He taught us real and complex analysis and their applications. If you ever had problems you could always approach him. A decent man.
A Quaker and second cousin to Iris Murdoch.

A state funeral is probably not on the cards.

Gerry Marsden.
V sad. Songs by Gerry and the Pacemakers are on or have been on the funeral playlists for several members of my family.

Sad, indeed. A piece of trivia: a friend of my mum lived next door to GM in Menzies Street (?) and told him I was a big fan. GM sent a nice letter and autograph. I was 12 at the time. I never forgot that.

My mum has already written her own mass in Gaelic with 40 of the singers in the choir she trained. But it's corona time..

Whose death would break any remaining link with your childhood? (Question only applies to us oldies!)

I’m thinking William Shatner. Probably partly because he’s obviously still alive. As opposed to others who might be alive but I’d assumed they weren’t.

I was going to say Rolf Harris but on second thoughts...

I forgot about Paul’s question, and did this brief yet frantic search on what happened to Pamela Anderson. Having now been temporarily reassured, I still can’t quite come up with an honest answer of my own. Will ponder it further.
