Hawaii

So it seems like there's a good chance a MFE won't get you much of a career anymore, but an american MFE will give you the right the work anywhere in the US for 2+ years...which brings me to possible residence Hawaii. So with a well respected american MFE (assuming I do reasonably well) how hard would it be to find a job in Hawaii for 70k+ USD? What kinds of jobs are there? Thanks.(btw I know this sounds like joke, but I'm serious) Edit: Holy Sh*t the University of Hawaii has a MFE too!

There are a number of science projects based on the big island, you might have a chance of getting a job related to one of those. Mostly they are based in Hilo which may or may not correspond to your picture of Hawaii, depending on how much of it you put together from TV!

I hope that all the billonaires who've been buying up Hawai'i will put some $$$ towards restoring Lahaina. (Oprah has been helping out, but I haven't heard much from the others.)

Update: 114 dead, 850 still missing.

Bezos has given $100m. We helped out at the Maui Humane Center last week, I've never seen so many Amazon boxes. People have donated probably more dog food than there were dogs in Lahaina! The locals have been amazing in the speed of their response, but it took the politicians ages to get off their backsides.

Joe "No comment" Biden is visiting today.

Meanwhile Jason Momoa has told people to stop visiting Maui. This has rather annoyed the island business owners who now have no customers.

Apparently most disasters are followed by another disaster of a flood of donated but unneeded items that have to be disposed of.
Markets for goods are extremely efficient. If you want to help, send money, not stuff. If you just want to feel good about yourself, have a couple drinks.
