Quick help for a future Quant

November 12th, 2017, 3:32 pm

Hello (again?), I am a passionate of Math and Finance, currently in a French University I’m looking for becoming a Quantitative Analyst. The intellectual stimulation, the mathematical problems and working on projects attract me a lot.
Therefore, I created a quick and easy Questionnaire to help me complete the information that I already collected.

If you could help me on this point, I'd be very grateful!

How are your programming skills?

I am a passionate of Math and Finance,
Can you explain a bit more? What led you to this state?
If you are passionate why do you need advice?

How about a trade of information?
"If you are passionate why do you need advice?" How can anyone not need advice on something they've never done before?

Most people follow their dream and they don't need to ask. Try it and see. If you fail, try something else.
Fear of failure is a very European thing. In the States it's a badge of honour.

I'm sorry but I can't agree with you, you need to know some basic things before you do anything. Because no one was born with all the knowledge necessary to succeed.
I'm pursuing my dreams, however I won't rush.

The intellectual stimulation, the mathematical problems and working on projects attract me a lot.
You will be very disappointed.

Sounds like "Leaping from tree to tree, as they float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia."
Serious, OP makes no mention of programming skills and the thrills of spending 3 weeks finding that elusive software bug.  I suppose industry != academia.

And the thrills of long working hours in a noisy open plan office next to a salesperson cursing loudly on the phone with a French accent. And the thrills of eating an unhealthy lunch at your desk. Etc.

In this case it was more of a climbing his way up the Rocky Mountains to the spring, where ISayMoo belongs.
Isn't OP a recruiter gathering data on his potential spam victims?

OP is young. When I was young, I thought life would be a stroll through the forest admiring waterfalls. At some point, I was kidnapped by poo flinging feral monkeys. They kept me captive in a cave. After many years, I learned that there is beauty in caves as well. ISayMoo presumably hasn't yet found the beauty of caves.

ISM was that monkey. (And I'm sure he's happy with this.)

I escaped the cave. But I'm a lifelong slave to a couple of cats and a fairy.

And I guess in OP's pitch "French University" is supposed to bring out compassion.

Disambiguation: I mean El Karoui and the like, it's all over now. Right?
