Readjusted to the market?

June 26th, 2018, 11:51 pm

Hello,
To summarize the situation, I am in MV and I am massively underpaid compared to what the market pays for MV quant with my level of experience.
For my privacy, I would not comment the reasons of this situation. For my next move (let's assume that it is still in MV):
a) can I get to be readjusted to the market? Let's say a 50% increase in base salary.
b) would i be capped to a 20% increase in base salary? I have heard some people mentioning this number.

It mostly depends on your negotiation skills.

ok, so a good headhunter and a good story (to explain the gap) could make me readjust to the market in your opinion.

For what it is worth, in NYC it is now illegal for employers to ask about your current or past salary during the interviewing process.

It's actually pretty simple if you are able to pull it off.
  1. decide what is the salary you want (e.g. your current one * 1.5)
  2. stick to it
Most people have the problem with executing the 2nd part.

It's quite likely they want you out. It's the most popular way of geting rid of people.
