Experienced Product Controller looking for a change

December 23rd, 2008, 9:54 am

Hi All,I'm looking for any views on what my next career step should be. Open to all comments.I've been working for an IB for 10 years (6 years perm, 4 years contract), first in Financial Control, then in Product Control. I've got experience working in rates, equities, and fund-linked products. For the last few years I've concentrated on reviewing the valuation of structured financial products so I have a good idea of how the financial models work. I have a first degree in Maths from Oxford and an ACMA accountancy qualification.I want to move into an area which is more proactive rather than reactive, i.e. initiating work, rather than reacting to other parts of the business, so my first thought is Front Office. I'm thinking about getting into a structuring role or trading, but I am unsure what I should do to try and get a job in these areas. Is it even feasible in the current climate?Any comments are much appreciated.Cheers,Richard
