This is particularlly for people considering a MS in FE. If someone would ask you who were well known desk quants, quant-traders or quants very much identified with working with traders, in Chicago, what names would you give ? Students already in a program, esp. in Chicago, would be able to name some, but in contrast to NY or London, I'm not sure what names would strike "students-to-be" even in Chicago or even current students or quants outside of Chicago.

It is an interesting question and I have no good answer. IMHO Chicago tends to be home to the grubby prop traders and commodity guys, who try hard to keep their names out of the newspaper. Ken Griffith?? One of the Ritchies? They not real quants though.

>> Name a few headhunters that recruit for these firms, pleaseHard for me to say because I haven't been a player in the open job market for a long time. I landed my current postion without a resume using nothing more than my boyish good looks and charming personality!!! HA!I get ocassional cold calls from the usual suspects who advertize anyway. (Roy Talman, Robert Half, Huxley, etc)

One Finance PhD from my batch is working in Chicago. He is the head of the quant strategies group at Citadel. He has been with Citadel for the past 11 years. Really smart guy.
