PDE/finite element methods through Hodge decomposition

September 18th, 2022, 5:35 am

hello experts,

I thought this was an interesting article about finite element method theory [about which I know nothing :) ] approached through some features of Hodge theory (Hodge star operator and Hodge decomposition) : https://www-users.cse.umn.edu/~arnold//papers/acta.pdf

Autocorrect strikes again! Surely you meant Spiegelei! And then you are supposed to say, “and don’t call me Shirley!”

"You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means"

Any excuse to drag Hodge into the equation. It had passing references to the work of Professore Franco Brezzi et al but AFAIR FB wasn't doing FEM from that rather abstracted-away viewpoint. But I might be wrong.
Actually, one of our Profs at TCD (David Simms) was a PhD student of Hodge.
