Dear Experts,Could you comment on the current situation with Energy Trading / Power Marketing.Companies who are cutting trading operations are Dynegy, Williams, El Paso etc.One of the reasons is to reduce capital and liquidity requirements. What's your opinion? Are there profitable Energy Trading / Power Marketing companies?Thank you very muchAlec

From Platts Energy:" Trading volumes evaporate Meanwhile, business is suffering. Trading volumes at key hubs like TVA's and Entergy's are off as much as 70% from just a year ago. And volume may continue to fall with the mounting financial difficulties of active traders and the eroded confidence of Wall Street in the viability of trading. No trade can take place without a counterparty, but counterparties are dropping like flies, traders say. Although speculative trading has been hardest hit, asset-based trading continues at a fairly strong clip, one of the few signs that the evolution of this segment of the industry is headed in the right direction. I've always wanted to work in this sector.People just seem to have such cool titles. I encounter people with things like "Director of Global Power" on their business cards.DominiConnor
