Trading Portfolio and Trading Book

Hi,

Can someone please explain to me what is the difference between a trading portfolio and a trading book for a trader?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they are the same thing, up to local dialect variations.

Without context, it’s impossible to say...  They probably are one and the same.

In local parlance, trading portfolio would be trader's investment universe, and trading book would be the actual positions in her/his book.

Trading Portfolio = You were educated at Oxford or Cambridge.
Trading Book = A red brick or (back in the day) the fruit and veg market.
