Trying to identify strategy

September 29th, 2021, 9:48 am

I'm looking at a long list of trades executed by a bank

I can identify some strategies

These puzzle me, these trades appear to be related but I can't figure out what is going on

16/04/2013 SELL           -33,678 58.67

16/04/2013 BUY             33,678 58.67

16/04/2013 SELL           -45,788 58.67

16/04/2013 SELL           -45,788 58.67

16/04/2013 BUY             45,788 58.67

25/04/2013 BUY             33,678 53.98

25/04/2013 BUY             33,678 53.98

25/04/2013 SELL           -33,678 53.98

25/04/2013 BUY             45,788 53.98

25/04/2013 SELL           -45,788 53.98

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

This question is posted with rather incomplete context on multiple levels.
You seem to assume every trade a bank makes is for their own account, and therefore representative of their own strategy (?)
If so, what is your basis for making such an assumption?

Separately, do you understand how so-called low-trading-fee or no-trading-fee stock trading platforms actually make a profit for themselves?
Have you ever read any order execution disclosures from any brokerage firm per SEC Rule 11Ac1-5 or SEC Rule 11Ac1-6?

Now cue the music: (Guns&Roses) Welcome to the jungle ;-)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1tj2zJ2Wvg
All standard disclaimers apply, and then some.

I think the bank were mostly handling client orders, however it may be possible to identify the trading strategy from the bank hedge executions
Thanks for looking at this
