Backtesting is really a great approach to start with algorithmic trading. You can try Investfly. It gives you the backtest result with the historical data upto 5 years for your algorithm. You just have to create portfolio and create automation. Best of luck.

Dear algoisgame, as a student i can only recommend getting data from a professional company if you are relying on accuracy. Try AlgoSeek.com, they often provide a discount.
