where to get economic data online

I am doing some research on economic, but is there free online historical data? many paper use DRI/McGraw Hill database, but I cannot find it online. thanks

Central banks and national statistics offices are often good sources. For the US specifically, https://fred.stlouisfed.org/ is quite comprehensive.

Quandl have some free economic data. There were entirely free in the past but it changed.
They also collect data from the different US states feds.

Check the following list of historical data sources. Good providers of historical economic data are MeasuringWorth, World Bank, FRED, Knoema or TradingEconomics.

Check out econdb.com. Data is updated daily, and it has a pretty wide selection of macro indicators per country.
