Is a Z-shape recovery Mild - or severe ?

July 7th, 2020, 9:54 pm

The Brookings institue published a recent article about all of the recovery shapes (https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2020/05/04/the-abcs-of-the-post-covid-economic-recovery/) and they include a Z-shape.

They however tilt the Z so it's really a sharp down, a long recovery, another mild down and then back on the original trajectory.

I think a Z is a Z - and and a Z-shaped recovery is sliding along in denial (like now), a very sharp and deleveraging backward slope, then slide along the bottom until a reset has occured:(http://www.macrotomi.com/article/recovery-is-looking-to-me-like-a-z-shape-recovery-here-s-why)

The x and y axes are not numbered.
