The NYT has a story tonight, mostly behind their paywall, that is summarized thusly:
Agency Threatened With Firings After Contradicting Trump on Dorian
- Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross was said to have made the threat after a NOAA office rebutted President Trump’s claim that Hurricane Dorian might hit Alabama.
- His move led to an unusual, unsigned statement later by the agency disavowing the office’s own position that Alabama was not at risk.
Given his level of incompetence and corruption as Commerce Secretary (as well as the context of the Trump administration in general), not shocking, but still pretty disturbing.
