Has anyone been charged with that? Of the 200 or so charged so far apparently not

Yes, for clarity, this is far worse than 9/11 as far as domestic affairs are concerned. It is one thing for a caravan of Saudis to attack our country, it is quite another for a recently defeated president to insist that he is the rightful heir to the throne and incite a murderous insurrection to stop the counting of the electoral votes. GOP facts are of course totally different. No riot. Trump won. Capitol? Nothing to see there. Must eliminate governor of California! And New York. Bad dudes! Not proud boys at all.

I think you've done enough now, bearish, that you'll never have to do jury duty. The defence will think you want the death penalty, and the prosecution will think you are a bleeding heart.

One of the mixed blessings of not being a citizen is an automatic exemption from jury duty. On balance, it’s probably for the better.

Did the Jan 6 capitol rioters kill anybody? We know capitol policeman Brian Sicknick died. How exactly did he die?
According to CNN (a generally anti-Trump news source), it's not clear
here is a more clear-cut case: 2 officers commit suicide. Trump would call them 'loser'.

Smith, who was ordered back to work on Jan. 14, shot himself in the head the next day, inside his Ford Mustang near a scenic overlook of the Potomac River, the paper reported.

Well, that was fun. Conclusion? Democrats are as mad as Republicans.

Look, build a case, arrest the man for treason. Try, and if convicted execute. Anything less is just aggressive hot air.

I think they had to do it. Even if it was known ahead of time that his co-conspirators in the senate would acquit, you just couldn’t let that behavior pass. At least now the history books will show that a large majority in the senate voted to convict him, and those who bothered to watch the proceedings got nice descriptions of how he cheered on the mob as they were rampaging through the Capitol.

USA banana production just 0.01% of world supply. They must do a lot better to live up to the new name.

We can idly speculate whether it would have made any difference to the outcome if the mob had managed to kill Mike Pence and/or Nancy Pelosi, but probably not. We’re back to the campaign statement by Trump that he could go out and shoot somebody (anybody?) on 5th Avenue, and it wouldn’t change the opinion of his supporters. Because, well, they’re republicans. Nothing else to be said. No evidence could change their minds. Their minds are impervious to facts. I guess it’s a religious thing. And guns! Guns be good!

And the unintended consequences of another failed impeachment? Well, the way things seem to work these days... and there are still plenty of unregistered trump2024.*** domains. I've just got trump2024.monster for $2. bearish, I'll let you admin it!

That is unfortunate. Although, he stands up there lying through his teeth on live national TV in defense of the indefensible. That was an active choice on his part. He could have just stuck to his regular business of extracting extraordinarily large amounts of compensation in personal injury cases.

Looks like there's a lot to live up to, given the various banana wars and support of Chiquita Bananas (formerly United Fruit Co.) by politicians on both sides of the aisle.

What about Fyffes? a bit of name dropping: the founder of Fyffes was from Dundalk and was a comrade of my grandad in the fight against the Crown Forces at the GPO, Dublin in 1916.
The biggest danger to USA banana production is Drosophila melanogaster, not politicians.
