Current actions of GOP senators won’t, but their past actions will, most notably the illegitimate stuffing of the Supreme Court with Trump acolytes.

But surely he'd be sitting on death row (I assume that's what happens for treason) for years, no?

You know I’m not one for layers of bureaucracy, but “Impeachment Manager” would look good on a CV.

I’m assuming most Republicans were watching the footage today of death and destruction in the Capitol with pride brimming in their little black hearts, tinged with a hint of sorrow for the mob not being able to get in to kill Pelosi, Pence and AOC (well, after raping her, because she is young and cute).

As one would expect from totally corrupt jurors, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee met with Trump’s lawyers today to coordinate his defense. They are as guilty as Trump. Of murder. Just for starters.

Did the Jan 6 capitol rioters kill anybody? We know capitol policeman Brian Sicknick died. How exactly did he die?
According to CNN (a generally anti-Trump news source), it's not clear

CNN's leanings are irrelevant.
Shouting "Fire" in a crowded room is not part of 1st Amendment. And my guess most of the mob are not liberal arts graduates, so we cant't accuse them of poetic licence.
Those people would not be dead today if the mob had not descended on the Capitol.

I award this post 6/10 for snobbery. Could do better!

I wonder if everyone says "Blah blah free speech blah blah fire blah blah crowded room" because that is the only example they can come up with?

We should start with simple analogies when it's not clear.

Sorry, but in assessing the destructiveness and importance of the event, the details matter.

Obviously, the worst thing is death. Apparently 5 died:
 - Brian Sicknick, capitol police, of so-far-unknown causes (see above)
 - Ashli Babbitt, a rioter, shot by a capitol police, while climbing though a door window toward the House Chamber
- Three other event attendees died of "medical emergencies" (heart attack, etc).

The next worst thing would be the intention to murder or kidnap anyone in the capitol.
Has anyone been charged with that? Of the 200 or so charged so far apparently not

Then, there is the matter of two pipe bombs planted near headquarters of both parties.
That deserves follow-up and more details.

Why do the details matter? Because the left wants to make this event into the 9/11 of our times, and will use it as an excuse to silence opposition speech. On Sept 11, 2001, 2977 people died due to foreign terrorists. On Jan 6, 2021, perhaps one person died directly due to rioters. The events are NOT comparable!

Grandpa, what's a crowded room?
