Quote of the day (so far): “My only question is, who is our bigger enemy, Jay Powell or Chairman Xi?”

In case you forgot, Powell was nominated by Trump as Chairman of the Fed.

In one of his lunatic rants today (and there were several), Trump claimed that Melania (third wife, not daughter or second wife, all of whom may blend together into some Central European melange of blondness) "had gotten to know Kim Jong Un". Of course, "getting to know" a person of the opposite sex has a special meaning in the Trump-Epstein circle of friends. But, apparently it's all made up. They haven't even met. It's less consequential than his lies about why he didn't make the climate discussion at the G7 (pretty much: the dog ate my schedule), but really?

"Fantastically unconstitutional" was a pretty concise summary by Rachel Maddow tonight of Trump's insistence that next year's G7 meeting should be held at his crappy golf course property in Miami. And, of course, Putin must be there, because like he owns me...

Good tip. Both bearish and myself have the world's weight on our shoulders.

Stressballs are good. Keep the demons at bay.

Is that a problem for you that Trump has an immigrant wife?

Nope. There is a pretty good chance she was illegal, but I am reasonably tolerant of that, too. And he does of course have a long history of employing illegal immigrants in his hotel and real estate businesses, because those tend to be the ones willing to put up with low wages and hard work. My problem in this context is his extremely aggressive anti-immigrant stance, most of it deeply racist and engineered by the little nazi, Stephen Miller. With Bannon discreetly pulling strings in the background.

Now this is really a small matter, because it's only likely to affect people in the Southeast, but still:  https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/01/politics/donald-trump-category-5-hurricane-dorian/index.html
Having a president with the memory of a goldfish is .... interesting.

I once spent some time at the Trump Soho. I found the personnel top notch.

So Trump is golfing in New Jersey while quietly celebrating Odessa and being very confused about Dorian. Sharknado?

One immediately notices how convenient its location is to Dublin. At least it’s in the same country...

It's very near to Shannon Airport. Seems Mike's Ancestors came from Doonbeg.

It's a long way from Clare to here

It's a long, long way, it grows further by the day

Doonbeg is a backwater; all the action will be in Dundalk (Cuchulainn's backyard)

BTW bearish,  you no doubt learned at skule the yuge batlle between Danes and Northmen at Dundalk in 851.

Sober people are discussing tonight whether the seemingly brain damaged occupant of the White House actually means what he says about the imaginary hurricane threat to Alabama or whether it's just a ruse to distract attention from his massive pro-Putin anti-American actions elsewhere. Hard to say really...
