I think there should be a Jeffrey Epstein number. If you knew him, you get a 1. If you knew somebody who knew him, you get a 2, etc. According to Kevin Bacon, everybody on the planet has a Jeffrey Epstein number of 6 or less.
Plus, if you slept with him, you get a 0.5
Does 'sleeping' count for bonus points?
If that's all you get, count yourself lucky.

GOP politician: slavery was a "necessary evil"

That's quite revealing about the modern Republican Party.

I think that is a good point, and it illustrates how the GOP doesn’t really exist anymore, aside from a Trump personality cult. And he has no principles beyond what will win him reelection, make him and his family rich(er), and keep him out of prison. Conveniently, in his case those three are just about perfectly aligned.
Kind of like NRA supporting Reagan's gun control legislation in the 1960s to disarm black people.

It's all about the racism, baby.

A Bridge too low on Long Island

And, of course, there's Moses's famous racism, as well. Many people will say the reason the bridges are so low is because Moses wanted to keep buses from the city —

While history is of course important, misbehaviors from 50-100 years ago can easily obscure the blatant racism of current day Trumps and Cottons and their ilk.

So, Trump’s pet poodle, the extraordinarily corrupt head of the department of justice, “testified” in the House today. Mostly lying, but that would be expected. He will definitely be on the front line as the fucking loser tries to cancel the election. Before or after the fact, which is still an open question.

I hear when Trump sneezes, he uses a WHITE Kleenex -- obviously a dog whistle for white supremacists.

So I take it that you agree with him that he has done more for Black Americans than any other president? With the possible exception of Lincoln, as an afterthought...

Well, that particular claim is (in the legal sense) -- puffery, of course. But, pre-pandemic record low Black unemployment is/was a big deal. Jobs come from businesses, and if you are a pro-business candidate, like Trump, you get to legitimately claim some credit.

The greatest thing Obama did for Blacks was Obama Care, which I support. So Trump loses points in my book for being an obstructionist on that.

Going forward, the issue on jobs is which policies can get us back to that historically record low state -- assuming, as I do, that we will largely cure this virus problem in a year or so.

So it is was only a matter of when. But today marked the day when he went public with his plan to delay the November election. Perhaps indefinitely. Because, people might vote against him!

I don't understand Trump's problem with mail-in voting. In California, everybody gets mail-in ballots and, if you want to use them (I do), they work fine.

What *would* be problematic would be Internet voting, which is not proposed. The Russian state hackers would be salivating if we ever moved to that.

What makes you think he has a problem with mail-in voting?

He wants to cancel the election. Nothing else he says is likely to be true.
