justin has reordered his cabinet (the 3rd reshuffle) ahead of 2019 elections
In a first, he announced the creation of a Ministry of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction, saying the "integrity" of Canada's frontiers was a "top priority."
"That means effectively managing the arrival of irregular migrants and asylum-seekers and preventing the flow of illegal drugs and firearms into our communities," he told reporters.

Wow! He is way behind Trump and May. He’s got to pick up the pace!

he's done a full 180 on the border, having initially signaled that illegals (sorry, irregular migrants) no longer welcome in the US would be welcomed with open arms in Canada, then panicked when fairly small numbers of those migrants took him up on the offer and walked across the border into Canada.
Because he knows it will cost him the next election unless he does something

There are tens of millions of illegals in the US and my guess would be less than 100k in Canada.
According to wiki, "Canada’s border agency is removing illegal immigrants in Canada regularly in a respectful, safe, and effective manner."

Why the hack job on Trudeau? Because he is a Liberal? He is also a pretty tough guy, check out on youtube how be beat up a brutish and much physically larger Tory senator in a charity boxing match. The loser's name was Patrick Brazzeau, who, inexplicably had pending criminal cases and previous convictions absolved by Canada's court system.

because he is a groper (ISM's title, not mine).

Don't you find it ironic when he stands there and says, "What's going on in the United States is wrong. I cannot imagine what the families are going through. This is not how we do things in Canada."
And it turns out that that's exactly how his government does things in Canada.
I wonder who changed the CBC news page, whether CBC did it themselves or whether Trudeau's office had them change it

AFAIK the UK government has a policy of making the life of asylum applicants as difficult as possible.

Immigration and the Border Are Suddenly Tough Issues for Trudeau
An Angus Reid poll released in September, just after the number of crossings peaked, found 53 percent of Canadians thought the country was being too generous to people who cross the border illegally. For past conservative voters, the number was 75 percent.

In conversation with Jane Fonda: ‘I am so disappointed with your prime minister’

early (2017) she said
Fonda claimed that, like President Barack Obama, her first impression of Trudeau was one of admiration: “When I heard that your prime minister, the shining hope at the … Paris climate talks, who talked so beautifully about needing to meet the requirements of the climate treaty, and respect and hold to the treaties with the Indigenous people, and so forth — such a heroic stance he took there,” Fonda said. “And yet he has betrayed every one of the things that he committed to in Paris.

from BIS
The economics of revoking NAFTA

revoking NAFTA would cause a 2.2% decline in Canada’s GDP versus 0.22% for the US

one of the sticking points at the moment is that Canada wants to retain a cultural exemption clause in any deal
“It is inconceivable to Canadians that an American network might buy Canadian media affiliates, whether it’s newspapers or TV stations or TV networks. It would be a giving up of our sovereignty and our identity and that is something that we will simply not accept,” Trudeau said in a press conference on Tuesday.”We’ve made it very clear that defending that cultural exemption is something fundamental to Canadians.”
In addition to ownership rules, there are canadian content rules on TV and music radio
local stations are required to have half of their prime-time lineups Canadian – between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Some of that is satisfied by US shows made in Canada to save money (x-files was made in vancouver, and I believe stingray may have been one of the first: I heard a story that the show was cancelled and someone involved in the show got it uncancelled by cutting costs and filming at lionsgate in BC) but some is homegrown Canadian tv which everyone knows is awful and is only on tv because of the content rules

meanwhile, Trudeau's problems with China continue to mount with the chi-comms sentencing a Canadian man  to death for drug smuggling
Presumably in retaliation for the arrest of the Huawei CFO,  the chi-comms re-tried  Robert Lloyd Schellenberg whose original sentence of 16 years was increased to the death penalty in the re-trial

China sentences Canadian to death in apparent response to arrest of Chinese executive
