In the old days you couldn't get a well-paid job or any job at H&W if you were  a Catholic
Why do you worry? You're an atheist.

BTW. Is H&W Hull and White?

And it was difficut being a communist in East Belfast during the pogroms of the 1930s.

UK Supreme Court dismisses NI Protocol challenge

https://www.rte.ie/news/brexit/2023/020 ... -protocol/

TUV leader Jim Allister and others argued that the protocol was incompatible with the 1800 Act of Union between Britain and Ireland and 1998 legislation that enacted the Good Friday Agreement.

More seriously, it probably breaks the terms of the Magma Carta.

US senate leader urges DUP to restore power-sharing institutions

https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/dup ... 48297.html

Mr Schumer also referenced a group of Irish fishermen’s campaign to oust a Russian naval ship away from the Cork coast in 2021, quoted novelist James Joyce, and said Mayo would win the All-Ireland Football Championship.

“I come from Ireland’s 33rd county – Brooklyn, New York!” he said.

anyone who has heard of James Joyce can't be all bad.

The story of an MI5 spy’s link to the Northern Ireland peace process,

https://www.independent.ie/entertainmen ... 99933.html

The MI5 agent claims he put his career and life on the line by disobeying orders and meeting with Martin McGuinness just three days after the IRA’s Warrington bombing in 1993. After introducing himself as a British government representative, Robert says he told McGuinness Irish unity was inevitable. And he says it was these contentious and entirely unauthorised words that led the IRA to call a ceasefire and engage in the political process.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

The Wolfe Tones should have turned in their CDs in the Good Friday Agreement.

Crazy how fast everything turns to politics up there.
Note: it is a non-political message.

It was always like that (since the fraudulent Act of Union). There hasn't been an Assembly there since 3 years. Sinn Fein is the largest party in both the North and the Republic  The DUP - with tacit appoval of the Torons - is blocking the Assembly. It's what we expected..
All other parties want it.

A major issue is nitrate fertiliser seeping into Lough Neagh. It kills everything.
I see sheep with head staggers and many die on the mountains.
