This may not be the right thread, but speaking of dinosaurs and such things, I think Meghan’s interview with Oprah tonight shed some much needed light on a totally anachronistic institution only slightly more benign than the ‘Ndrangheta. But much older.

Looks like MM didn’t do her due diligence. Didn’t even watch the first two series of The Crown before getting married!

Nothing tacky about revealing your baby’s gender on Oprah. No, nothing at all. So...is it a boy or a girl?!?! Yes, it’s a chav!

I was very sympathetic towards H&M before but I think they’ve dealt with things very badly. Think Johnny Depp.

Underwhelming.

I didn’t see what bearish saw. No surprise there. No bombshells, no smoking gun.

We heard that the Firm are not unlike any other British family. We heard that the civil servants are domineering. We heard about fear of the press. Nothing new in any of this.

A lot of obsession over security. But for decades the royals have been cutting back on expenses, and who they give titles to. The latter being part of trying to be more like common people (these two are doing this really well).

No training on curtsying or the national anthem! Imagine if there had been, how that would have been presented! Damned if you do, damned if you don’t!

Where was the stuff about M’s family?!

I could go on...and on, and on!

It will hurt the royal family disproportionately to the content. And the media, and bearish, will hype it up no doubt. Cue hunting down the mysterious person who mentioned a baby’s colour.

I guess people will see what they want to see.

I swear it was the first time I watched Oprah, ever.

Bombshells: Oprah made Meghan cry. And Harry bullied into “no comment”ing.

It’s almost as if we learned nothing from Tony Blair about spin.

I did not watch the show and don't plan on it, but a question:

Considering that Prince Philip has been in the hospital for a few weeks, wouldn't it have been polite/thoughtful for everyone involved to postpone this show?

The Queen also had the covid vaccination - not sure if that is connected or not but maybe some respect and space for both of them?

Well, yes.
