Imagine a world in which locals drive delivery vans for Amazon. Where they have to pay higher wages. Wages that pay higher income tax, and much of the rest of the pay stays in the local economy. A world where Amazon makes less profit. But that doesn’t mean less tax, because you can’t pay less than zero anyway.

Ending FOM means more job opportunities for the locals.
Depends on the jobs. You'll get no locals to pick strawberries
You forgot to add "at the same price the farmers can hire Eastern Europeans for".

Question: why was Hermes easier to beat in court than Amazon?
Answer: because Hermes is not a global behemoth.

Of course, if Brexit results in a massive scaling back of London's finance industry and all the supporting functions (from lawyers and accountants to hotels and restaurants), maybe so many qualified people will repatriate to their home towns of Leicester and Sunderland as to crush the job market for those locals who never left home.
We're having tech companies replacing the banksters.
And [60,90]% will be foreign workers.
And they will get Tier 2 visas, no questions asked.

Is [60-90]% too little for Remainers who allegedly support the free movement?

Remainers like Vince Cable support increasing the cost of tuition for the locals, to make damn sure that the companies need to import workers from countries which invest in education, because the working class locals won't be able to afford going to the university.

[ltr]Britons lose chance for referral to European court on Brexit rights case[/ltr]

https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2019/02/b ... ghts-case/

the last chance for a European Court of Justice ruling before March 29th has now gone.

I suppose Britons will have to learn Dutch and take the mandatory course on Dutch culture and customs! Good luck.

It's a mess.

I think it's unfair. These people pay taxes and raise kids and then they get hassle through no fault of their own.

The pain of living in the society. We all pay taxes for things we don't necessarily support. Re kids, it's people's personal choice - those without children often contribute more positively to the societal and civilisational challenges, especially compared to the buggy-mowers.

So, 50 days to go.
The EU will cave at the eleventh hour as it's all about da money, right.

Brexit Could Lead to Thousands More Deaths by 2030, Research Suggests
the argument seems to be that brits will eat less fresh produce because it will supposedly cost more. Not sure if that's because they have to pay the strawberry pickers more or because of import tariffs

I'm more curious why they assumed that the prices of unhealthy foods, such as meat and dairy, won't increase too, effectively forcing people to buy and eat the healthier and still relatively cheaper plant-based food.
A couple of days ago I was travelling with a bunch of guys whom I'd have suspected of being typical Remainers (most of them typical min-age, i.e. 30-40, British guys). Since it was late and we were all hungry, we started chatting about food and health. They went on cursing the EU for, first of all, the plastic problem, then the absurd product quality requirements (no wonky vegetables and fruits, no worms and dirt on them!), GMO (not as a scientific method, but the EU control and regulations of the procedures, which are either suspiciously vague or destructive to the environment), and the general excessive bureaucracy inspired the Moloh the EU is.

About the GMO: other people blame the EU for blocking the development of GMO agriculture in the UK. Someone must be wrong, they can't all be right about this?
