This story could frankly have gone into any number of different threads, but it does have Brexit in the headline: https://mondediplo.com/outsidein/brexit-climate-deniers. Nothing shocking, but the story weaves together some interesting threads. Lots more underlying data and network graphs on the DeSmog UK site.

This story could frankly have gone into any number of different threads,
In fact, on all ppauper's threads that he promoted for the last 10 years. Chickens are coming home to roost.

There was something quaint about this Hunt quote from yesterday “... because the Conservative party is the party of business.” Flashback to the ‘80s!

It's not a very high bar if you compare with Labour and LibDems.

Yeah - I was thinking more in an absolute sense, which was neatly summed up in the classic quote from your next PM: “fuck business!”

What was the context of that quote?

It was about a year ago (while he was still foreign secretary) during a private diplomatic reception where he was confronted with questions about the impact of a hard Brexit on UK jobs and companies like Airbus and BMW.

I think the degree to which the Johnsons, Trumps, Erdogans, Dutertes and Kim’s don’t care about business is about the same. If it’s their own, it’s of national importance. If it’s somebody else’s, fuck’em.

If the EU gave the UK 100% access to Single Market post Brexit, the City would switch from Remain to Leave in a heartbeat.

+ Bolsonaro, Orban, the  DUP (the party keeping the UK government afloat, same old story if you know history).. the list gets bigger and bigger.

If it were done when ’tis done, then ’twere well

The bad bankster meme is a little tired.

The bad bankster meme is a little tired.
Exactly! Now you know how I feel about the Trump meme, the Brexit meme, and especially the meme meme.

OK, but the financial crisis was more than a decade ago whereas the other two plagues are rampaging as we speak. I kind of agree on the meme thing, though. Except for surprised koala.
