More blah, blah, blah, pls!

It's pencil not paint.

I did a nice self portrait the other day. I look exactly like my mother. Oscar Wilde was wrong.
good to know.  I am working on flowers and birds in pastels.

on parsimony of words - I could have written a parody of a struggle session, but that is only funny if people understood what that was and saw it as a parody. People are much too quick to think what they read here (or anywhere else) is "True."

We could, however, start a group-written play in the OT.  Working Title: Struggle Session. He he.

It brings together various themes: the virus, confinement, political interrogations, class and cultural warfare, philosophy, promiscuity (for some), celibacy (for others), and quant finance.

and if that sounds really awful and  a certain failure - it is.

I like it already.  :  )

I think posho leftists have a pathological desire to be liked. They suspect they are not very likable and their reaction is to strenuously virtue signal. Probably starts at their private schools where being a team player is more important than individualism.

I bet there aren't many posho leftists who are Millwall fans. ("Nobody likes us, we don't care.")
I guess being deemed separate and different from a gang of drunken hooligans should really hurt. Oddly, not so much...
Some people (posho leftists) would like to be so deemed. Personally I wouldn't care.

Maybe any posho leftists could help also with the following questions. Do you have to work on that unsmiling victim look?

Image

Are you born with it? Is it part of the signalling? Why don't the left smile?
Seems KS attended a grammmar school.

I don't think he does pantomine and buffoonery.

Not all of them vote "Socialist"

To some extent, Cummings can be seen as a typical Oxford-educated Tory toff. But although he was privately educated, still a fundamental fault line in British society, you won’t find him posing in toff-tastic Oxford Bullingdon Club photographs like Johnson and former Tory prime minister David Cameron.

A common feature of many right-wing university clubs is destroying furniture. In many cases, the uni judo club had to be brought in to control such rowdyism, which it executed with gusto.

And the more right-wing the more pleasure in breaking things. Because daddy pays the bill.

Just as absurd as the opposite extreme of the whole higher education pathology in the UK - the hires which check all the diversity boxes with no scientific skills.

Most of the article was hidden behind a paywall, but the author is totally misguided on one important point: Princeton will under no circumstances give out a “sports scholarship”, so that is not what she got. They certainly recruit athletes and definitely hand out needs based scholarships, but linking the two would be a serious violation of Ivy League rules.

Receiving an athletic scholarship of course sounds a lot nicer than “my family was determined to be too poor to afford Princeton, so I got a discount on the tuition”, which is in effect what happened.

Villenova and Notre Dame are popular with Irish athletes.

They are both considered among the top Catholic colleges in the US (usually along with Georgetown and BC). Out of the four, Notre Dame is the outlier, as being considered much more of a football school than a basketball school. And, yes, they all hand out a full range of athletic scholarships.

Yes, they are among the two easiest answers (for most) to the question of which division 1 college teams have a name that does not include an animal, a color, or ends in the letter “s”. There are about six of them…

No, terrapins are animals and they end in “s”. The other easy one is the Fighting Illini.

Indeed, it would be stupid to vote Socialist. No true socialist would dream of it

Exclusive: Private schools pocket millions in Covid loans denied to state schools

All loans of £100,000 or more granted before the end of 2020 are listed on the European Commission’s state aid transparency database, something the Conservative government initially resisted but was forced to accept under the terms of its Brexit withdrawal agreement.
