A collapse in the Conservative vote like last time will result in 309 seats for them.
I really hope not. I dread five more years of such paralysis.

I know how to spell Pinocchio, but I have a problem with Giapetto (-:

I think it was and a fair comment on the fact that someone insulted his son. A natural reaction rather than "outrageous snobbery and arrogance".
It all boils down to education: my hunch is that the word "Pinocchio' would be used much more than in state schools.

Well it does have the advantage of being Disneyfied. I would better on higher hit rate than Struwwelpeter.

Try telling the electorate what 'quid pro quo' means.

Do they still let you vote in elections in The Netherlands? Or only for which TV channel is showing in the common room?

I wouldn't be caught dead voting for a politician, especially if he uses Latin words. Reeks of elitism..

Education is elitism?

I will use this catchphrase the next time you complain about lack of rigor in deep learning. It's elitism!

I have different roles in different threads; here, I am taking my first steps in political satire (which died in the 1960s)

On a more serious note, I was expecting some response to my latest post (summary: "ODE >> GD"). And Lagrange is not a fashion outlet.

No, it's changing

The great university con: how the British degree lost its value

https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/e ... -its-value

Academic standards have collapsed. In many institutions, it is the students who now educate the universities, in what grades they will tolerate and how much work they are willing to do. “We have got to protect ourselves from complaints,” says Natalie Fenton, professor of media and communications at Goldsmiths, University of London. “It’s an endless process of dealing with students who haven’t been able to buy the grade they wanted.”
