Tagoma,
Did you ever find out what went in the big shed opposite your dwelling?

That kind of stuff is indeed what I was hinting at. Outside tagoma's (previous) dwelling was a yuge grey flat-roof warehouse facing Monte Blanc. Smugg;ing tunnels? Tags has never given closure on this issue. All good borders should have them.

I still think that physicists are closer to God than are mathematicians, for example.

I knew you'd like that one.  :D
Bonus: the xkcd site has an additional amusing hover-over joke for this cartoon.

They think so too in their blissful ignorance :-)

Statisticians (or at elast mine) motto would be "The closer to God, the further from truth".

Nice opinion piece in today's WSJ by Lawrence Krauss:
The Ideological Corruption of Science

Same deal as before with that Heather Mac Donald WSJ piece I posted
(which has connections with this one, as you'll see).

That is, since it's behind a paywall, I've posted a link to a
fair use copy,
valid until I've decided it's annoyed enough people:  :D

Oh well - this problem will simply disappear along with US universities. Except, that is for Liberty U and the re-invigorated Trump U.

I'm on a fence about this one. WSJ authors do have a point that the ideological atmosphere at US (and not only) universities has become kind of toxic and definitely overheated, but OTOH they're not noticing that a lot of this "politicisation of science" is simply a justified pushback against racism in the academia or (pseudo)scientific racism of the kind spread by Francis Crick.

Indeed - I expect their accreditation to come through any day now.
