A brief search on the topic suggests that “we” neither know why so many legal pads and similar notepads are yellow, nor even when that practice originated. But probably in the late 1800s.

You beat me to it.

I will guess: just because the colors go nicely together (black ink on yellow background). Why do women wear red with black?

Bleeding head republicans are itching for a civil war. Rewriting the history of the January 6th insurrection - the worst attack on the country since Pearl Harbor (remember how that ended). Using the thoroughly illegitimate Supreme Court to make any kind of abortion illegal. Eliminating voting rights for the kind of yucky black and brown people who are likely to vote against them, and really are Untermenschen to begin with. They probably figure that they have the guns, so they will win. What they forget (or may not have the mental capacity to grasp) is that theirs is the party of the poorly educated. And of the flat out dumb. In a 21st century civil war, that may get you killed. And what kills you, as the saying goes, makes you dead. The more, the merrier!

The governor of Florida just signed a bill imposing pretty serious fines on any social media company suspending the account of any Florida republican running for state or local office. That’s a very Florida thing to do... Oh, and of course, there is a special exemption for media companies that also happen to own theme parks. Because, Disney!

Bleading head republicans, in an effort to kill each other (which I applaud and support) are increasingly banning the use, let alone requirement for any purpose, of covid vaccine documentation. This of course is going to have the side effect of killing local normal people, as well as keeping many of us far away from states like Florida, Alabama and Texas.

In a recent poll by the American Enterprise Institute (a right wing think tank), 56% of Republicans supported the use of violence to protect the traditional (white) American way of life.

So vague, and of course the 'white' is bearish editorializing.

Here's a way of life: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Only the left rejects this dream in favor of identity politics.  For example, if you said that on your Univ. of California diversity statement, you'd never even make it to the first cut, much less be hired. If you said it on campus, you're probably guilty of a micro-aggression.

That’s fair. At least sort of. I did add the parenthetical comment, but absolutely believe that a majority of the respondents would include keeping slaves as part of “the traditional American way of life” that they would like to kill for (not, mind you, die for). Like it was written into the constitution. All men created equal, and all that.

So the NRA/GOP have things to celebrate! We’ve had 260 mass shootings through Wednesday (an estimated 8,600 gun violence deaths in the US year to date), which is a new high. Remember, the sole and singular purpose of automatic rifles is to kill people efficiently. So, it would be asinine to support the right of every idiot to own an assault weapon unless you want them to be used. And, to make their supporters happy, they are being used more than ever! Yay!

I think this is a legitimate use for the AR-15 style rifle,
scaring off potential rioters from trashing your home. So, the use case here is "intimidation", belying your point about the "sole purpose". And, it's semi-automatic, not automatic: one bullet per trigger pull.

Ah - those are the St Louis criminals, right? Brandishing deadly weapons against unarmed civilians would make it fair game to take them out, so yes, that be good.

Right, here were the unarmed civilians in St. Louis on June 1, 2020. I think that couple had a legit concern on June 28, when the photo was taken.

Here's a thought experiment for you. Suppose the protestors were the Klan and this was a black couple. Same reaction?

Didn't help during the Tulsa Greenwood massacre in 1921..
If it happened today the black couple with not fare well. They would probably be lynched and nothing would happen, as usual.
next question.
