Trump just fired Bill Barr. Worst AG in living memory, narrowly beating out the little elf from Alabama. I assume Paul will shortly feel sorry for him. For the last act of justice destruction I guess Rudy needs a job?

Wait - now you’re sorry about feeling sorry? There is a bleeding heart liberal hiding somewhere under that hard exterior!

He's no Frank Zappa.

I'm probably at least 8 years older than everyone here, but the Beatles (Catholic Liverpuddlians) were very popular in contrast to the Stones who were Protestants from the Home Counties. I was also a fan of the Stones. They could have become a great group but drifted into lollipop. What a shame.

Anyone remember Millie Small?

Sure (well, the song anyway). We missed her in the RIP thread? (haven't looked to check; she died May, 2020)

I knew of her passing, but I thought no one would know who she was.

Louie Gohmert. Congressman from Texas. Just sued Mike Pence to try to force him, in his capacity as president of the Senate (that’s a thing), to set aside the result of the presidential election in a number of states and hand the presidency to the losing loser that lost. I have read up a little bit about his stated opinions and voting record (he is big on Arctic oil exploration and lynchings, not so much on science, and the rights of women, let alone the LGBTQ+ community), and I’d be hard pressed to imagine anything he and I might agree on. Although we might possibly find common grounds on barbecue.

The GOP has a very simple message to American voters: “Fuck you! We don’t care what you say, our Messiah shall be president for life!”

And that’s not just the Proud Boys, but most of Republicans in Congress. My imagination is not nearly rich enough to see how this could possibly end well.

The National Rifle Association just filed for bankruptcy. My thoughts and prayers are with them. :-)

Well - while filed under Chapter 11, this is more of a moral than financial bankruptcy. They are a deeply corrupt organization that for some inexplicable reason is incorporated in the state of New York. They are essentially trying to flee prosecution (or, as they would have it, persecution) from the NY Attorney General, and reincarnate themselves in Texas, where they belong. There they can celebrate school shootings and other massacres to their little hearts’ desire.
