Some of us consider this the worst attack on the US since 1941. In that context, eight months and a day aren’t really all that different.
OK, I'll give him 2 days -- an extra one for making AOC wet her panties.

OK - your interest in the moisture level of AOC’s panties is duly noted.

According to court documents, Paul Hodgkins, 38, of Tampa, Florida, entered the U.S. Capitol building at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Jan. 6. Around 3 p.m., Hodgkins entered the Senate chamber, walked among the desks, and then removed eye goggles. He took a “selfie-style” photograph with his cell phone and walked down the Senate well where, a few feet away, several individuals were shouting, praying and cheering using a bullhorn. Hodgkins walked toward the individuals and remained standing with them while they continued commanding the attention of others. At approximately 3:15 p.m., Hodgkins exited the Senate chamber and the U.S. Capitol Building.
Harmless. Deserves a day in jail ...
he's not black.
Lucky for him. I hear that judge is giving an extra year for "liking Trump while Black".  :D

On the fall of Kabul, I am reminded of a line from "The Jackal":
Taliban to Biden:  "You can't protect your (americanized) women"

Yes, I’m afraid we’re going to get another lesson on the value of religion (which one is kind of less relevant).

The Afghan Allies Left Behind
The Biden Administration’s withdrawal is already a catastrophe, but it has a moral obligation to keep U.S. forces in Kabul for as long as it takes to evacuate all of the Afghans and their families who assisted us

This looks like a worthy cause
No One Left Behind is the only nationwide nonprofit committed to ensuring that America keeps its promise to our allies and their families who risked their lives for our freedom, just like Janis Shinwari who saved 5 American soldiers. Sadly, we have recorded over 300 interpreters and their family members killed because of their association with the United States.

We keep our nation’s promise by trying to fix the State Department’s 14-step SIV process with it’s 3.5 year wait time and by providing emergency financial aid and used vehicles to newly arrived interpreters. Last year we helped 636 SIV families in 93 cities in 20 states with over $430,000, but for every family we could help, we had 4 more waiting.

This is a great opportunity for the Taliban. All they have to do is not kill westerners, and let girls go to school. China and Russia will give them their (dodgy) vaccines. Then everyone will forget about them.

Agree. Play nice for a while until all the western journalists have left and China teaches them how to censor the internet. Also get some lessons on how to launder all the drug money with bitcoin and avoid the western banking system. Then, let the real "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan" begin.

That’s a pretty awe inspiring photo. Although it may give the guy who runs Spirit Airlines some ideas.

Pretty pathetic that the US couldn't secure the 2.5 mile route from the embassy to the airport. At this point, how many troops would it take to clear Taliban checkpoints along this route? Obviously could get messy, but seems like an inevitable next step if we're going to evacuate any significant numbers. Then, the message can be "if you can make it to the embassy, we can get you out of the country".
