Yes, this seems to have been a case of democracy at work in the end, but I do think it highlighted some real weaknesses in the recall procedure. Including the notion that in a fixed term electoral system, the threshold for being able to muster a recall election should probably be a tad higher than being observed at a fancy restaurant without a face mask. That was stupid, but compared to say (randomly) the current cast of characters running England, it looked pretty benign.

I don't know who the cast of characters running England are, but I'm not keen on having anyone "run" it. Maybe you are thinking of the old East Germany?
