Well, sure and subject to change, but I am happy for Apple.
From the article: "Apple’s closest rivals are Microsoft, valued at $2.53 trillion at the end of 2021, Google parent company Alphabet, valued at $1.92 trillion, and Amazon, valued at $1.69 trillion."
So, the Evil Empire did not get there first, nor that dot-com upstart, nor the Retailer in the Clouds.
Apple's IPO: December 12, 1980 at $22.00 per share. The stock has split five times since the IPO, so on a split-adjusted basis the IPO share price was $.10.
Closing price on January 3, 2022: $182.01.
and as a pre-pandemic benchmark: January 10, 2020: $77.58.
