But will there be any European Union then? And any UK?

Unless some external shocks destroy it, the EU will persist. It has created a pan-European political elite which is married to the idea of European integration.

France had some elite before the revolution too.

"There'll always be an England."

Oh yes. With the UK - it's not so certain.

It's the "U"-thing: EU and UK. There will be a Europe and there will be a K-thing (why isn't it a Q-thing?). How united, time will tell.

Thanks for helping me prove my point so nicely! Regardless of the system, there's always been someone powerful who believed in the idea of France. Thus, France persists.

It took Napoleon to destroy the Holy Roman Empire. There is no (currently) no Napoleon in the neighbourhood who would be willing and able to destroy the EU. Putin is neither.

Not really, the Holy Roman Empire was destroyed by the void from inside during centuries, Napoleon only put the stamp. So was the first Roman Empire and the Ottoman Impire and Brittish Empire and even the USSR.

What do you see iside the EU, what ideas? Nothing but the void. Mene mene tekel upharsin.

Look to Middle East. Qasem Soleimani is an astonishing leader and strategist. In times of proxy wars and global oil reliance, Middle East is our neighbour ;-)

That process will be easier if we can shut off the Saudi supply.
