What a thread, it doesn't speak well for any education past the undergraduate level Am I really that bad or not suitable to this global market business ??? >>I am not an HR person, but then again for the kind of job you are looking for it's doubtful that HR would have any role in getting you the interview and they would have nothing to do with whether or not you are hired. If you want to get hired onto a trading desk you are certainly gunning for the bigtime, and I have to say that I admire that. Of course when you try and take it out of the park you tend to strike out a lot, it's just the nature of the beast. That being said here are my .02, take them with a grain of salt, as I am someone who knows nothing really about your position, personality or qualifications. If you are not even getting calls after you submit your resume the two main reasons that come to mind are 1) as goshawk had suggested you need to revamp your CV. 2) the jobs you are applying for are typically not ones that are filled by folks that submit resumes, the bulk of the interviews come from personal contacts and therefore they don't really even take time to look at a resume. If you are getting interviews but you aren't getting jobs one thing comes to my mind, personality. For a job as a trader compatability with your desk is paramount, followed closely by a good relationship with the sales desk and at a third that is a good relationship with the support people. The good rapport with support people is a lot more important than people think. I have heard of a guy getting marched out of an interview because he asked an admin to get him a drink, I think the inteviewer said something to the effect of go get it yourself, and don't bother coming back. The traders may heap abuse upon their support, but they certainly won't let you as an interviewee get away with it. It's kind of like the way one feels about one's little brother, it's okay for you to give him a hard time, but you'd jump on anyone else that did it. As for getting along with the traders there's really not a whole lot that can be taught on this subject. They like to work with people that are like them. If they don't think that you could be someone they'd be friends with, you're not getting hired. When you work in such close proximity to people for such a long day, day in day out, if someone bugs you it really puts a drag on the whole thing, and it's all about fun.
