back office admin interview - advise please

hi ,i have an interview for a back office admin role in Energy trading next week ;inputting tradesliasing with tradersother admin duties etc ...i don't suspect that this role will entail a great detail of quants (my academia is weighted towards quants) to begin with.my questions to you helpfull chums are ;if i prove that i can do alot more than admin duties - what opportunities might there be in a years time or so ?what's it like working in energy trading ?any tips for the interview/areas i should reserach in beforehand ?thank you all in advanceSingh......rewind selector

I don't know how likely it is to go from the backoffice to the trading desk it depends on the place, culture. I would suggest you go on the trading floor every day and ask questions even if you don't have any. As far as what energy trading is like I worked for a natural gas and electricity trading firm in the US shortly after deregulation (1997) and it was literally the wild west. Prices and credit worthiness counterparties moved all over the place, you definately did not need much quant skills although we did have a PhD doing something. Of course, this type of market quickly disappeared when Enron and others imploded.
