MSc in Finance. At CUBS or Imperial College???

May 4th, 2002, 1:01 am

Hello!I will go on one of these two schools so I wonder if somebody can give me any advices regarding which school to choose? I know the difference in the course structure but I don't know which school that have the best reputation among the employers. I also wonder if somebody know something of the quality of teaching and time spent in lectures/workshops at each school. Any advice is highly appreciated.Goco.

MSc in Finance. At CUBS or Imperial College???

May 4th, 2002, 2:19 am

Goco, I have virtually the same decision to make. I am deciding between Imperial for Finance MSc and CUBS for Mathematical Trading and Finance MSc.I don't exactly know myself which is better so, sadly, I can be of no help. However, I have gotten the impression that City might be better.I don't know if this is borne out by the recruitment destinations of students or not? City just seems awfully good at placing students, I think, and I guess because of its proximity to the financial district perhaps has a modest leg up. Forgive me if I am wrong these are just my impressionsand opinions. If you find anything out regarding these matters, apart from this forum, please post it here and let me know.cheers, adog

MSc in Finance. At CUBS or Imperial College???

Back in 1998 I think they had very similar programms. I cant comment on them now but it seems to me that the IC one is much softer that the CU. So I guess it depends on what you are after. Note that this is just an impression since I am not interested now in such a degree and have done no research on the matter.rgds,Dimitris

Hmmm, I would tend to disagree with you.... I thought the MSC course was precisely the oppsoite! Too much maths, too detailed... not enough practicality. But thats what I think

From my personal experience the MSc at CUBS has an excellent mixture of mathematical and practical notions. It provides the students with enough literature and practical models to cope with the requirements of the professional world of finance. For a more in depth analysis on manyy issues a great deal of literature and bibliography is providedRegardsDylandog
