I'm a recent chemical engineering PhD graduate and I would like to know if others like me were able to make the transition into quantitative finance? My background is in finite element modeling of free-surface and moving boundary flows, as well as coupled fluid-solid mechanics. I've done a lot of computational work with difficult-to-solve PDEs, but I have little to no experience with stochastic differential equations. (I do, however, know how Ito calculus is used to derive the Black-Scholes equations - if that means anything.) Can anyone give me suggestions on how and where I should look for a job? I'm hoping to find a company that can use my quantitative skills, even though I have no experience in finance.Thanks.-M
