Hi all, I've been thinking about moving back to Canada to be closer to my family. Does anyone know anything about the quantitative groups or other prop desk at TD Securities? From people that I've talked to, they seem to be one of the better places to work at in Canada. Do they have Convertible Arb desk?

i know that the TD office in london is on a large recruitment drive, particularly in Credit, and the middle office functions.....dont know about Canada, but by some accounts, TD are doing a level of business above that which you'd think.

I also heard a rumor that they don't have a convertible bond arbitrage desk. Are banks moving away form that strategy?

implied volatilities have been dropping over the past couple of years which means that convertible bond issuances are a less attractive prospect for the companies looking to raise cash - and hence new issuances have been down. As a result, CB bond arbitrage desks that rely mainly on high volume and liquidity via new issuances (as one source of potential PnL) have been starved of supply.Bottom line - some banks are moving away from CB arb.

I've got an interview coming up, and I'd like a bit of intel before I go in.

if you don't mind me asking, which group are you interviewing with at TD? did you apply for a specific desk, or is it the overall quant group.
