Dont even get me started.....Anyone who plays gerrad on the left and ashley cole as left back (when we have wayne bridge) ....you really have to wonder. Add on why scholes is in the side at all ...questions marks have to be raised..Yeah i fear our chances now against the scum aka france

Agreed. They reckoned in the papers that it was an experimental side, but i think he has/had stong ideas to go out with that midfield. Bottom line is we don't have a world class LHS player.Drop Scholes for Lampard, bring in a defensive midfielder, being er...mumble and then Barry on the left and we have a nicely nearly there world class midfield......

Midfield of Barry, Butt, Gerrad and Beckham with Gerrad captain. And scrap the diamond formation and play a normal 4-4-2Get rid of cole and put in Bridge Since Barry isnt chosen in the squad I would just put heskey on the left. He cant do any worse than anyone else plus he can actually defend which is morethan can be said of cole who is just a liability

I'll stand up for Ashley Cole here. He's much improved as a defender over the course of the season.

If he started of as rubbish and then improves a bit doesnt make him a world class defender does it. Bridge offers far more as a defender and is not bad gonig forward. Cole is a liablity esp against France...and we've got enough problems without putting him in the arena

Why Birmingham have signed him for £6mio is beyond me, but makes me happy being from the other side.I think we should take Heskey out and shoot him, give his highly inflated wages to me and play with 10 men, it would make for a better team.

Agree on the comment about Heskey. What did he do for Liverpool when they made that 'record' signing for him, let alone England? I dont think that we need to be worried though. It's been a long season for all the Arsenal/Chelsea players and I think that they just need a rest. England ALWAYS under-perform in friendlies/qualifiers, and when it comes to the crunch they always do better. You have to hand it to the French... just look at the squad!! But I think they will underperform. Look at this way. Aside from the the 2002 world cup matches (3 of them) France have not played a competitive game in 4 YEARS!!! They won the 98 world cup, then the 00 euro-cup; so they got automatic qualification to both 2002 worldcup and 2004 Euro cup. Hence, they have not played any qualifiers/competitive games for 4 years!! Thats a BIG thing since the team has changes significantly since their last triumphs!On another note, I think it's going to be Beckham's tournament. Last world cup he near his peak but was injured, I fear that next world cup he will be past his peak. This is it for him, so I think he is one to watch out for.

many more overrated player in the premership.....long on promise short on polish....At least heskey delivered for two seasons for us..(last two were a disaster).How Wenger paid 13m for Wiltord is just amazing and how he gets into the French squad beggars beliefWho else can you put out on the left. Dyer? do me a favour? Man has no positional sense..cannot defend to save his life and is another liability on the park...

"ashley cole as left back (when we have wayne bridge)"player, i'd expect better from you matey... ashley's by far been the most consistent England performer over the last year or so.. obviously i'm biased as i'm a gooner, but ask most impartials and i'm sure ashley would get a nod over bridge any time; one thing that amazes me is that eriksson has not tried playing both of them, with wayne just in front of ashley.. as far as lampard is concerned, anyone see chelsea play arsenal on any of the 5 occasions this season? apart from the fluke he bagged last time around, anyone actually seen him touch a ball? its scary to think that in a couple of weeks not only will he face viera, but makalele'll be in there as well... cannot believe i'm saying this but defoe should definitely go.. as for heskey, i'd be surprised that nonce could bowl, let alone play footie..btw, anyone going down for the games? there are 5 of us heading down next week;

clarionI guess I'll beg to differ on the cole verdict....Personally I though Silveniho was a better left back at arsenal than Cole However totally agree with you on Lampard. In all top matches Chelsea have played this season against top opposition he has disappeared. Apparently people are debating the choice should be between lampard and gerrad...Gerrad wins hands downI'm just glad I'm not the only won who thinks this.Defoe....cocky bastard and arrogant as he his...he should have gone. The only in form English striker around. Vassell and Heskey couldnt hit a barn door to savetheir life..and Rooney is just asking to be sent off. Yet again it leaves owen whose hamstring are liable to go at any momentAs for going to the finals...have a ticket to the main final itself so heres hoping that England are in it and failing that here's hoping we give the french the stuffing they thorughly deserve............

i'll back you up player - ashley cole looks great going forwards, and rubbish when the opposition have the ball. i don't really know why he hasn't been given a run at learning to play left mid since everybody else and their gran has been tried there, but now it seems like the wrong time to try it out. i know scholes is a class act and all, but he's so woefully out of form that i think you have to take him off the pitch, gerrard and butt in centre mid, and that still leaves the problem of who is out on the left... i'm not sure i have an answer, if not cole then i'm bound to get the call up soon, they're running out of alternatives.

Agreed with Butt and Gerrad midfield. Beckham on the right. As for the left well Heskey is the best option out of the players Erikson picked.Lets not forget are defense is suspect so we need enough battlers out there and Heskey despite all his faults (and he has many) one thing he is pretty good at is defending.I got a feeling that if this isnt tried out then Erikson will show why many think he is a good coach but not world class

"that here's hoping we give the french the stuffing they thorughly deserve............"matey, i hope they keep it to a couple... i think we'll get stuffed by the french, its just the matter of keeping face and not allowing for a total embarassment... cannot believe all the hype generated in the media once again - anyone trully believe we can win?!?!?just put some cash on czech v spain final w czech as the eventual winners... its about time the dark horses deliver the goods;
