Msc in Finance: Imperial or Cass??

April 6th, 2004, 8:40 am

Hello everyone,I got accepted to Cass for its Msc in Finance program. Can anyone please comment on this program ? Thanks. how is the repuation of Cass in London? The thing is that I have to pay my £1000 deposit by the end of this week, and I am trying delay my decision since I am still waiting for an answer from Imperial. My questions is that which of the two programs (cass or imperial) is preferred by the City employers? Personally, I prefer Cass for its curriculum. However, I know Imperial has a better name worldwide. Here is some details about me:21, Graduated last December with GPA 3.7 from an English speaking college in BelgiumMajor in Business Ecnomics with very limited maths coursesHad work experience (financial analyst) and 2 internships with the world largest oil firm

this has def been discussed - i think the summary is that if you are interested in academics IC is the better choice. For simply getting a job they are prob equal although IC maybe slightly better for more quantitative roles.

This isn't always a problem but I have had many occasions when I have asked one of my clients what requirements they are looking for in a candidate academically, and many prefer candidates from Imperial. To be perfectly honest though, the key to getting a junior role is getting a good internship in the area in which you want to work. If you get a Masters Degree from Cass, and get a suitable internship under your belt you will do fine. If you get a choice between Imperial and Cass though, go with Imperial. Best of luck!

Aspect Capital, KBC (financial prods and Hedge Fund division), DrKW (program trading), Commerzbank (quant research), BGI (advertised in Financial Times for students from THREE of CASS's Masters degree programs), Goldmans, Merrills, JPMorgan, Morley Fund Management (who are using CASS for in-house training programs)...etc etc etcall recuirt and look actively for CASS students.http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/media/storie ... 39164.html
