Are there any other forums or newsgroups which is similar to this one?I am the only research student in my department doing finance and can find nobody to discuss any finance related topic.Thanks!

http://www.cqf.info/ and NPBut this forum is good enough for you. Also you need a good book, such as PWOQF. At least thats what I began with.

If I remember correctly, mib calls W****tt a nice and friendly forum while NP as a bit more agressive one on his homepage NP=nuclearphynancePWOQF=Paul Wilmott on Quantitative Finance

CQF is a friendly place also, but the community is pretty small so you have to be prepared to wait for a while to get feedback on your questions. Unlike Wilmott, most of the threads have no replies.
