james, I know this isn't the same string, but just wondering - why do you rate MSC Finance at Imperial above Financial Economics at Oxford. It can't just be that u reckon Oxford's using it'sname can it? isn't that what iperial were doing also?

MSc financial math at KING's or MSc math and finance at IMPERIAL

well personally for me its not a good course, it costs £19,500 which is a lot and I have pretty much covered all the core courses during my undergrad degree in economics at Cambridge. Also the Imperial course seems more mathematically rigourous. One final point is location, Oxford is a nice place but I think if your doing a finance related masters it helps to be near the finance industry, its nice to discuss topics you learn with people who actually use it in their jobs. What do you think?

/delurkJamesH- you mentioned 'the course structure and content is poor' wrt to the MPhil at the Judge. Could you elaborate a bit?I'm in the year below you (same course), thinking of doing a masters but I'm rather enjoying life at Cam...Cheers in advance for any help.

I'm a fourth year student at Imperial. Maths and Finance course has been restructured at Imperial, and in general maths department has excellent reputation.

I interviewed hell of a lot of Msc candidates from both King's and Imperial, and I had the strong impression that King's students were in general much better prepared.Might be a chance, but I think the sample was big enough to justify the conclusion. In terms of placement, I think the all the top UK schools are considered roughly equivalent in the eye of a recruiter. So whatever yoou choose, if you have a good CV and prepare a great cover letter, (And I stress GREAT, no spelling mistakes and targeted to the position offered) there shouldn't be any problem in getting interviewsWould be interesting to hear the opinion of other members that recruited people straight out of an MSc.Regards,G

forget Kings, chances are there won't be any lookers on your course anyway. At ICL you know there won't be any BUT it's situated in South Ken. which is a hotbed of talent - so if you really wanna pull a stunner then you can by checking out the bars in the area! No brainer.
