Going to take the PRM in a few months time.....what books\materials should I consult. Would it suffice to just buy and read either the PRM or FRM handbook and the reading list mentioned on the PRMIA site? Thanks

Quote Well what I mean is....has anyone got a job offer (or an interview offer ) thanks to his/her PRM/FRM certification.yes if you are a PRM/FRM labelled candidate, it should help you in finding a new job, esp. if you have a good math/engineer profilePRM / FRM is a certification, it means you are suppposed to have all the skills to be a risk manager, but are you a risk manager ???Note that Garp only gives its label if the candidate can justify (via a CV) a 2-year risk-related experience, not for the PRM labelpersonnally, I only know top risk managers (cf. project management, head of....) that passed one of these exams thx

It's all about positioning.Think "marketing/packaging/perception" when you contemplate getting the FRM/PRM certification.

would a PRM / FRM be redundent in terms of career opportunity if i'm obtaining a MSc in Financial Math? i had a quick look at the contents of PRM and i feel like i can take Exam I and II immediately. Would the PRM improves my opportunities as a master graduate?another question. FRM requires working experience while PRM don't. would it imply that i shouldn't take FRM at the moment without a first job?thx very much

One follow-up question. I'm wondering if PRM Program Self-Study Guide contains all the examable topics. Since I have basic knowledge (and materials, not official though) for the first three parts, I could study the relevent materials instead of using the handbook.

I took/passed all the levels of PRM except last. I just need to read a weekened and complete. I am not entirely sure if that added any knowledge considering that much of its redundant material covered in masters in fin math, series 7, etc kinds. But, I am curious myself to see if my resume is given more importance after I get the designation. I just read the handbook and felt it was sufficient.
