Better to specialize early, or to go multi-asset?

April 18th, 2005, 5:59 pm

Hi. I'm graduating soon, and have two significant internships in one asset class, and know quite a lot about it (credit der.).Ideally, given two equal opportunities, one in this asset class, and one in another asset class, which way do you feel is better to go?On a more general note, are desk people generally focused&specialized or do they tend to have good cross-asset knowledge? Thanks fer your advice!

Hi!I'll tend to say it is better to start with an asset you really know in order to be as efficient as possible. Of course it depends on whether or not you like the work related to this asset. But it's better to start with something you know (prove that you are worth your seat) and after move horizontally to another desk if you want.Look like I already saw this pseudo in an engineering school located near Lozere.... That's my 0.02 $
