COLUMBIA -- CVN -- MS -- Methods in Finance

Columbia is offering MS in Methods in Finance through CVN program .. is it worth doing?comments please http://www.cvn.columbia.edu/b/degrees/mfms.htm

Wow...you are definitely fast on this one...I just received the e-mail from Columbia I still don't think online courses/degrees worth much even though you have the name "Columbia" on your diploma...Just my $0.02

I would strongly disagree. Many of the courses are identical to the MSFE, tought by the same professors and you are expected to do the same exams. The degree names are slightly different because they 'want' to preserve the value of the on-campus experience. The degree won't say that you did if through CVN l so prospective employers will not now unless you want to tell them. So I would base you descision more on the reasons why you want to do if off-campuse (eg want to contin ue work or are not local to nyc)? thanks

the courses which are the same with MSFE are the intro courses for FE students, you will know very little if these are the only courses you take..........much better idea is to do MAFN part-time if you are busy during the day......unless u somehow hide the CVN on ur resume , i think the program is not worth much, def not in terms of knowledge.........
