DB does domestic work and outsourced work as well in India. Domestic work, as you can imagine, isnt all that big. DB and most of the other foriegn banks (like citi and bank am) are mostly active in corporate loans (especially forex denominated) and treasury products. They have negligible presence in ibanking/trading kind of work. That is still dominated by ICICI (thru I Sec), local players (Kotak, HDFC) and local JV's (JM Morgan Stanley and DSP Merrill Lynch). DB does a lot of outsourcing but they dont have any captive centres. They outsouce work to 3-4 players (whom i know) in India. work includes fixed income (corporate credit analysis) equity research and i Bank support functions. The quantum of outsourced work is quite big by Indian standards. Zeniht: if you interviewed in bangalore i guess it was with progeon (infosys subsidiary). They have been active in the recruitment market for about an year. how did urs go?

As far as i know here are the major banks who have outsourcing ops in India nowMorgan stanley - mumbaiJP Morgan - mumbaiGS - BangaloreDB - uses several firms for outsourcingBank of America - HyderabadLehman- Started recruiting (i think both mumbai and bangalore..not sure) Bear Stearns-bangaloreHSBC- bangaloreothers who have a vey small presence are smithbarney, Stan Chart and CSFBsome of these firms use captive centres while the others outsource work. as of now, i think the work is mostly for ibanking support functions, industry/company profiles, credit research and equity research. some banks started off with call centre and transaction processing operations and are now moving to these sort of work. I have seen ads from MS and JPM for roles which seems quant oriented (myself is a "non-quant" so i dont whether quants will classify them as a quant job!). zeniht: i have replied to ur PM

If I am correct then HSBC does indeed have a massive presence in Bangalore, but the job primarily revolves around credit card analytics and the like. They do almost none (if any) ibanking ops....ah well ...a little equity research if you will. But DB has outsourced some high end analytics (in the sphere of risk analytics, "quant" work ) to Bangalore (progeon)Ramanujam, you left out AMEX, which does a lot of ibanking work out of Gurgaon/Delhi (not sure which one). They have hired a few PRM;s and FRM's
