PM problem(?)

April 20th, 2005, 12:49 pm

There seems to be a bug in the pm system (?). I put some mail in a folder that I created, and the real author's name for each email was changed to my name. Can I restore the proper author? Did I do something wrong?

You do seem to have uncovered a minor bug. If you refresh the folder's page the original sender's name appears but once you select the individual message your username is displayed in error. When replying the correct sender's username appears correctly. I will investigate and aim to fix this as soon as I can.ThanksJames

Hi James -It now appears that you fixed the problem for new messages (after 4/18), but the old messages (before 4/18) from other people still erroneously have my name. Any chance of fixing that? Thanks.

Sorry but there is not an easy fix for this issue. It will only occur if you create folders and move items from the inbox and/or sent box to them.Moving items back to the inbox or sent box fixes some of the messages but not all. It seems a little random actually which is making the issue hard to solve. We will fix this in our next upgrade.RegardsJames

Thanks James. In the meantime, maybe we could just call this a feature and not a bug, following standard software practice.

Hi James -It looks like the problem is more or less fixed, in my case anyway. I just moved everything back to the inbox as you suggested and deleted all the folders. Thanks for your help.Jan

Hi James –Is the original problem fixed so I can create folders and organize pm’s from the inbox? The problem was that the real author's name was changed to my name. You mentioned that you would deal with it in your next upgrade. Thanks.Ref: your message on Fri Apr 22, 05 05:19 PM.------

Hi... Sorry, the issue is unsolved and this version of the forum is no longer supported by its creators. We are working towards a future upgrade but it may not be until the new year.
