The longstanding common wisdom is that the passing score is 70 percent of the top score(s). Analystforum.com discusses this topic at length. However, the passing scores are also influenced each year by the CFAI Board, which reviews "many factors". Their grading can be very frustrating to many Candidates because it is hardly transparent.

Hardly the CFA but I went to a PRM recruitment talk tonight and the pass mark on all four exams is 60% while the pass rate is around 50%. Tough course.

I am also interested to sit for the PRM. I have read a few chapters of the PRM materials. I reckon they have more maths than CFA. I would say PRM will be in demand.

Thanks.parts of exam 4 (the case histories on derivatives disasters) are fun. It's at a lower level than CFA and I managed to cover the material for exams 3 and 4 combined (the CFA crossover) in less than a month and 2 hours or less a day, so less than 60 hours. If you know anything about derivatives, exam 3 (risk management practices) should be a breeze.
