Not surprisingly, I'll suggest you should take the energy position. It's a simple question of entering a sunrise or a sunset industry. The glory days for MBS are well behind us, and you would have to be a brilliant quant to come up with a new edge in that market. Energy is very much a developing market, and hence there are a much larger set of opportunities.Best of luck with your choice.EQ

Thanks EQ. I gretaly appreciate your response.one more question:How easy it is to enter into energy trading from energy quant analyst position after working for one year.right now I am suppose to learn the power curves, thier models and also lot of emphasis will be put on to learn the fundamentals of the energy price behaviourHoping to hear soon. Thanks again. PS: MBS position will lead to trading after an year or so....

Hmmm, thats a tough question. I managed the move, but I also got my start in a shop well known for it's strong quant-driven trading strategies. I would suggest you discuss this career progression question with your potential employer, and in particular ask to speak to anybody that has made that jump.Best of luck with your decision.EQPS If you want to PM me the name of the company, I can probably offer some more useful advice offline...
