International Volunteer program--SG

December 14th, 2005, 3:26 am

Just very curious!!!Does SG's International Volunteer program give pay? Some volunteer positons are for 18 months. One of them is in Tokyo. How come can a person without pay stay in Tokyo for 18 months unless he can get financial support from others? Is SG, Tokoy strong in Equity derivatives?

Oops...J,The "International Voluntary Program" is a replacement of the CSNE, which was a "civil" form of the military service in France. Now that the military service in France is not mandatory anymore, the CSNE was replaced by the VIE : Volontariat International en Entreprise ("Corporate Voluntary Program")I guess most people who apply are French. This page, however :http://www.civiweb.com/default.asp?acti ... t=condsays you only have to be from a EU country, and between 18 and 28 years old. This other page :http://www.civiweb.com/default.asp?acti ... =remunsays that the pay is between 1100 € and 2900 € / month.Maybe in Tokyo it could be higher, when you consider the cost of living there. Let's hope some SG "voluntary" guys in Tokyo give you a more precise answer if they come around here...

I am actually in this program, to apply you need to be french. You can apply only for french companies (you can also apply for BNP or Calyon). You will be paid half byt the french government, half by the company. The salary is different for every country, and London is one of the worse. You get £1800 per month on average and do not pay any taxes. My flatmate has been in Tokyo some years ago in this program and have told me that the one in Tokyo is one of the best. He told me that it was more than enough to live and have a large flat.If you want to have more information about it, you can send me a private message.
