What's the problem here? The statue is a conventional nude in an unconventional position. It hardly breaks new artistic ground, but I don't see why it's offensive. I understand some people might prefer to memorialize death and destruction without thinking too hard about the details, but others will gain perspective by seeing a conventionally beautiful statue of someone apparently tumbling in midair.It may be shallow art, or too disturbing to be public art (although the original art work of Rockefeller Center has far more disturbing things and seems universally popular). Maybe it's politically incorrect to show a woman as victim. But I think most of the objection is from people who wanted tombstone art, maybe a sad-looking angel or a heroic bust.
